Lift Off invites year 9-12 dance students to an end-of-year celebration. With three distinct sessions on offer, students will engage with leading industry professionals and discover how to progress in their chosen career pathway.
This event bridges the secondary school environment and the professional environment by bringing students and industry professionals together. Students will explore the meaningful career opportunities available within the field of dance and participate in three distinct career-ready sessions: StageReady, DanceLaunch and EncoreEmerge.

StageReady
Time: 10am-12pm (bookings essential)
Get career-ready and create a professional portfolio or CV. Working with industry professionals, students will create two essential aspects of a dancer’s CV; the headshot and the performance biography. Spaces are strictly limited for this session so register your interest early.
Session includes:
- Update your portfolio with a professional headshot taken by a professional photographer. Students will receive the high-resolution via email. Please arrive camera-ready. Each booking has a 15-minute allocation.
- Get help creating a resume or editing your performance biography with an professional producer. Students will receive the final draft via email. Each booking has a 15-minute allocation.
DanceLaunch
Time: 11:45am-12:30pm (bookings essential)
Join us for a intimate Q&A with Melbourne’s leading performing arts training institutions with representatives from Ministry of Dance, Patrick Studios, Spectrum Dance and Transit Dance. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the possible pathways emerging dancers can take when progressing past a secondary school environment.

Time: 1-2pm (bookings essential)
You’re invited to a ‘Top Dancer’ showcase of standout solos from the class of 2024!
This session celebrates the hard-work, dedication and creativity of VCE or VET Dance students and ends with a graduate party.
VCE or VET Dance students featured in the ‘Top Dancer’ showcase must be nominated by their teacher. A nomination reminder will be sent out in Term 3, 2024. We encourage all dance styles!

- Year 9 – 12 dance students
- Government Secondary School or Government Remote Provider
Cost
This program is FREE for eligible schools only. It is funded by the Department of Education through the Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series.
Important Information
- Attendance for one or more sessions welcome but registrations are required for all sessions of interest
- A teacher or school representative must be in attendance for all sessions
- Students will need to complete a registration and evaluation form
- Students participating in StageReady photoshoot should arrive camera-ready.
- Students participating in EncoreEmerge are encouraged to wear full costume and dance-appropriate footwear. Change facilities available on-site.
