Does this course contribute to a student’s ATAR?

Yes! To receive an ATAR contribution, students must complete scored assessment, which includes three coursework tasks (50% of the overall score) and a performance exam (50%). This is based on the Scored Units 3 and 4 sequence of VCE VET Dance, endorsed by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA). Alternatively, students can opt for the unscored program.

Training details

All training takes place within a studio or school setting and is suitable for students who are new to dance, or currently studying dance. Students attend a minimum of 3 hours of training per week, including both practical dance classes and theory. Face-to-face dance training is complemented by online learning for the theoretical components.

Assessment

Assessment in VET is competency-based, with students graded as either “Competent” or “Not Yet Competent.” They will be assessed through knowledge questions, projects, portfolios, and observations. For those completing the VCAA Scored Assessment (Units 3 & 4), assessments will be graded and contribute to their ATAR. If a student is dissatisfied with an assessment outcome, Ausdance VIC RTO offers complaint and appeal procedures, which are outlined in the Student Handbook.

Skills recognition

Ausdance VIC RTO recognises qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other RTOs. Students can also apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to have their existing skills, knowledge, and experience assessed through the RPL process.
