Enhance your skills and ensure the safety and wellbeing of yourself and your students with our Safe Dance Practice professional learning course. Designed for dance teachers, studio owners, pre-professional and professional dancers, the Safe Dance course outlines the core principles of safe dance, covering anatomy basics, injury prevention strategies, and legal obligations.

You will explore the connection between dance and healthy living and discover how to nurture the emotional wellbeing of dancers. Plus, build on your understanding of creating safe physical environments, the causes of various injuries and learn ways to avoid, mitigate, and treat them.
This course draws from the Safe Dance® practice recommendations, developed from over 30 years of rigorous research by the Ausdance network into dancer injury prevention, wellbeing, and health.

Learning outcomes
- Understand and apply techniques for fostering positive self-esteem, assertiveness, and independence among dancers
- Ability to guide students through challenges, maintaining a balanced training regimen, and setting realistic personal goals
- Understand the importance of flooring, lighting, temperature, and ventilation in creating a conducive environment for learning and practicing dance safely
- Capacity to create a physically safe dance environment and ensure optimal conditions for dance classes
- Knowledge and skills to tailor exercises according to age, development, and control levels
- Understand and implement effective warm-up and cool-down routines
- Ability to address accidents, injuries, and illnesses promptly
Course structure
Safe Dance Practice is a self-paced, online professional learning course that uses research, simulated learning and quizzes to guide you through six topics.
