Marketing & Memberships Manager
About the role
We are seeking a talented and dynamic individual to fill the role of Marketing and Memberships Manager. You will be responsible for leading the brand, marketing and membership strategies to build Ausdance Vic (AV)’s profile in education and advocacy for the dance sector. This is an opportunity for an all-rounder with strong strategic communication and problem-solving skills who enjoys hands-on delivery across digital communication channels.
The role is part-time (22.5 hours per week flexible to your schedule), working predominately from home with regular days at our shared office and some offsite meetings and events. There is the opportunity to increase the hours over time. We are looking for someone who embodies our values, respects the strong base we have set and enjoys working as part of a small but highly competent team.

Work days and hours: Part-time 22.5 hours per week across Monday – Friday (potential for increase)
Salary: $70-$80k (Pro-rata FTE) depending on experience.
Location: Work-from-home with regular in-person workdays at Our Community House – North Melbourne. Attendance at meetings / event where required.
Position Type: Contract until end of 2026. Inclusive of a 3-month probation period. Renewal of contract, pending review.
Key accountabilities
Marketing
- Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of the overall brand and all marketing and communications strategies and plans in alignment with AV’s strategic and marketing plans.
- Lead the creation and management of all external communication channels including website, newsletters, direct emails, social media and PR.
- Manage the timely development of all marketing and promotional materials and publications across all platforms
- Work with the AV team to support advocacy activities through communications campaigns and stakeholder engagement utilising research and analysis.
- Supervise Marketing and Memberships Coordinator (TBA)
- Ensure the AV team adheres to brand guidelines as the brand custodian
- Maintain and update website content and CRM to ensure it remains accurate, timely, and an informative platform for the sector.
- Write clear, engaging copy for email campaigns, website news items, and social media content to strengthen member communication and retention.
- Design and implement digital marketing campaigns to build awareness of organisational activities, drive ticket sales, increase membership engagement and retention, and support fundraising initiatives.
- Manage key suppliers for website, advertising, PR, communications etc. in line with organisational policies and guidelines.
- Ensure all marketing and communications materials are accessible and inclusive as per industry standards.
- Track campaign performance, optimise workflows, and prepare reports to inform future activity.
Memberships
- Conduct a review of the current membership model in line with contemporary sector and organisational needs to develop a revised memberships strategy.
- Plan and deliver communications campaigns to drive new and retain existing members.
- Maintain excellent member relationships. Responding promptly to membership needs and support.
- Manage membership administration, including maintaining accurate CRM records, responding promptly to enquiries, and championing member needs internally.
- Leverage insights gained from member relationships, supported by qualitative and quantitative data to be the internal advocate for members.
- Proactively seek partnerships to enhance members benefits.
Selection criteria
Education & Qualifications
Required:
- Tertiary qualification in marketing, communications, business, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Working with Children Check (can be completed prior to commencement).
Preferred:
- First Aid
Knowledge & Experience
- 3-5+ years experience in a digital marketing, communications, or social media role
- 3+ years experience working with cross department teams and/or diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to work strategically and collaboratively
- Demonstrated ability to plan, create, schedule, and publish engaging content, and track performance and engagement.
- Experience with membership programs, including CRM management and supporting retention or growth strategies.
- Proven copywriting skills for email, websites, and social media.
- Experience managing and updating website content through a CMS.
- Understanding of the dance, arts, or entertainment industry (desirable)
Technical & Specialist competencies
- Proficiency with social media management tools (e.g. Meta Business Suite, Buffer).
- Working knowledge of graphic design and video editing tools (e.g. Canva, Edits).
- Experience using website content management platforms (e.g. WordPress, WooCommerce).
- Knowledge of CRM and marketing automation platforms.
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with project management tools (e.g. Monday.com).

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal

Employment conditions
Initial contract to 31 December 2026 which can be extended, with a 3-month probation period. Part time (22.5 hours per week), salary $70 – 80k FTE pro rata equivalent per annum plus super (paid in addition to wages at the legislative levels). Salary level is dependent upon experience. The position will receive the pro rata equivalent of four weeks annual leave and sick / personal leave, calculated upon 10 days’ sick leave per year for a full-time position. Standard office hours are between 9am-6pm, Monday to Friday but, given the nature of the role, out of hours work, including attendance at evening and weekend events, is required from time to time. Time-in-lieu will be offered in the event of this, negotiated with the Managing Director.
