The Certificate II in Creative Industries (CUA20220) provides a pathway into in-demand creative and performing arts careers for secondary school students with a passion for design, media, and digital innovation. Through real-world projects and industry-relevant learning, students gain a solid foundation for future study or entry-level roles across design, media, live production, and social media marketing.

Students can choose between two exciting specialisations:
Digital Imaging & Marketing – for those passionate about design, social media, and visual communication.
Production Skills – for students interested in the behind-the-scenes world of live events, staging, and audio-visual production.

Certificate II in Creative Industries (CUA20220) Digital Imaging & Marketing Specialisation

Delivered as a VET Delivered to School Students (VDSS) program for Year 10–12 students, this qualification can contribute towards the VCE, including VCE VM and VPC, providing both academic credit and valuable industry experience.

Production Skills Specialisation

This hands-on Certificate II is designed for students interested in the behind-the-scenes roles that bring performances and events to life. With a strong focus on staging, audio, front-of-house, and safety, this program offers students the foundation skills and industry insight to step confidently into the world of live production and events.

Certificate II in Creative Industries (CUA20220) Production Skills Specialisation

VCE credit & recognition

Students who complete this qualification may be eligible for recognition of up to four VCE VET units at Units 1 and 2 level. Click HERE to learn more about VCE VET credit recognition.

Assessment

Assessment in VET is competency-based, with students graded as either “Competent” or “Not Yet Competent.” They will be assessed through knowledge questions, projects, portfolios, and observations. This qualification does not have a scored assessment option. If a student is dissatisfied with an assessment outcome, Ausdance VIC RTO offers complaint and appeal procedures, which are outlined in the Student Handbook.

Training details

All training takes place within a studio or school setting. Students attend a minimum of 3 hours of training per week, including both practical dance classes and theory. Face-to-face dance training is complemented by online learning for the theoretical components.

Skills recognition

Ausdance VIC RTO recognises qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other RTOs. Students can also apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to have their existing skills, knowledge, and experience assessed through the RPL process.
