Announcing New Board Leadership and Appointments

Ausdance VIC leadership changes announcement

An exciting new chapter for the organisation

We are pleased to announce key leadership transitions within our Board of Directors, marking an exciting new chapter for the organisation.

After six years of dedicated service, Helen Haines is stepping down as Chair of the Board. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in shaping the growth and development of Ausdance VIC. Helen helped the organisation navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, strengthen our Registered Training Organisation (RTO), and refine our advocacy and programming initiatives. She also led a robust recruitment process that has built a skilled and capable Board, ensuring strong governance and support for the organisation. While stepping down as Chair, Helen will remain actively involved with Ausdance VIC through the Fundraising Committee and her connection with Patrick School of the Arts.

Stepping into the role of Chair is Gracieuse Amah, who has served as a Board Member since May 2024. Gracieuse brings a wealth of experience as a Creative Director, Community Leader, Choreographer, French Entertainment Lawyer, and Senior Privacy Advisor. With cultural roots in France, Benin, and Togo, she is a passionate advocate for community, representation, and education. Through her social enterprise KWABO Events and KWABO Festival, she has amplified BIPOC voices and culture, and we are excited for her vision and leadership to guide Ausdance VIC into the future.

Joining the Board as Ordinary Members are Jayden Hicks and Merryn Tierney

Jayden Hicks is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, mentor, and Artistic Director of Transit Dance. With an impressive career spanning performance, choreography, and artistic leadership, Jayden is deeply committed to expanding access to dance and supporting industry growth.

Merryn Tierney is a dance educator and Tertiary Coordinator at Patrick School of the Arts, with extensive experience in dance program management, compliance, and professional development for dance practitioners. Her leadership in curriculum development and training strategies will be a valuable asset to the Board.
