Update: Easing COVIDSafe Restrictions

To our Dance and Performing arts sector,

Positive news today! Low case numbers and combined advocacy from all sources have contributed to the raising of group caps to 50 people.

Statewide, QR codes are mandatory and masks must be worn indoors except when an exemption applies. Masks can and should be worn during classes and rehearsals outside of periods of exertion. For example, stretching, warm up, cool down and individual down-time during rehearsals.

For class and rehearsals in Melbourne
– 1 per 4sqm density quotient
– Max 300 people per venue (building)
– Max group 50 people- applies to adults and children

For class and rehearsals in Regional Victoria
– 1 per 4sqm density quotient *
– Max 300 people per space (room)
– Max group 50 people- applies to adults and children
* For regional Victoria: if you have a COVID Check in marshal- someone at the entrance checking and assisting with QR codes- your density limit is reduced to 1 per 2sqm.

For performances in Theatres across our state:
– Theatres can open to 50% capacity from 11.59pm 24 June
– Increase to 100% capacity from 11.59pm 1 July

We acknowledge it has been a difficult period for those involved in local dance studios and hope you can enjoy a positive end-of-term in person. We also extend our support to the dance community in NSW who are facing increased restrictions this week.
