Calling emerging dance artists!
Are you a passionate young dance artist ready to make your mark? Since 1997, the Australian Youth Dance Festival (AYDF) has been a crucial platform for young contemporary dance artists to connect, grow, and collaborate. In 2025, the festival returns to Naarm/Melbourne 17-20 July, and we’re seeking two emerging artists to join the team.
Ausdance VIC and YDA are offering the opportunity to work alongside Artistic Director Kyall Shanks in curating and delivering this iconic event. This paid role is focused on skill development, especially in leadership and administration.
Ideal candidates will
- Be 16-25 years old
- Have a working knowledge and experience of youth dance in Australia
- Be aware of the Australian contemporary dance landscape
- Have a willingness to further their administrative and leadership skill sets
- Be confident in offering fresh ideas as a younger voice leading the festival
- Love collaboration
- Have a passion for supporting access, inclusion and equity
- Have public speaking skills
You do not need to be based in Naarm/Melbourne, however will need to be there during festival dates. Starting from 28 October, you will meet virtually on a needs basis, about once a month, but this may increase in frequency as the project progresses. You will also need to be available in person for the week of the festival, starting 14 July 2025.
If you’re passionate about dance, inclusion, and want to shape the next generation of youth dance, this is for you.
Applications are open until Sunday, October 14th. Don’t miss out on this chance to lead and inspire!
